Jargon's Fork

Jargon’s Fork, like the other tiny villages of the frontier, was a small community just struggling to survive until a few short months ago. As summer hit full force it brought a new wave of adventurers to the area. Adventurers that spread out amongst the small towns to establish their bases and begin adventuring.

The more successful the adventurers, the safer and more prosperous the town would become as treasure was returned and monsters vanquished. One particularly successful group of adventurers arrived and made Jargon’s Fork their home. The group consisted of six young heroes, Veldranna Celais a young elf woman and her brother Celadur. Both were well versed in martial combat and fought quite well together. They met up with three locals: Ordaak a human fighter who had trained under a group of monks and had traveled to Jargon’s Fork only a few weeks earlier, Exarch, a brash and danger-seeking elven wizard and Edifen a quiet and insightful human cleric. Within a few weeks they met up with Taylin a friend from Celadur and Veldranna’s past.

Together the young heroes pushed back raiding Hobgoblins, forged a strong alliance with the neighboring Frostfury Bugbears and fought off the undead hordes threatening the trade routes south and east of Jargon’s Fork. During this time they have brought a great deal of wealth into Jargon’s Fork and have garnered a huge amount of faith from the settlers. Their partnership with Dieran and the Arms and Arcane Adventurers Guild has established a great deal of solidarity and safety to the region and between them they have attracted a force of personal followers that numbers in the hundreds camped on the outskirts of Jargon’s Fork.

The city itself has grown immensely in the past months between newcomers to the region and refugees from Millsworth Hollow and Reshvale. The population now sits at approximately 7000 up from it’s original population of just 400 before the summer. The city has been built so rapidly by the arrival of three dwarven builder crews that are able to design and craft building with amazing speed using a combination of engineering and arcane rituals. The crews have setup their own quarry outside the city that allows them to craft and shape mud into perfect blocks before magically turning it to stone for use in construction and they likewise have a logging camp where they grow fine quality lumber in batches six times a day before chopping it down for use in the city. They have been accompanied in recent weeks by a group of gnomish citysmiths that specialize in urban planning by actually shifting the location and landscape of the city to organize buildings properly and create room for roads and infrastructure.

The city has thus changed from a ragtag collection of houses and business to a full fledged city, the cornerstone of which is a large university in the center. The university houses several separate schools all dedicated to different subjects and has full libraries, ritual and alchemical laboratories to support them. The outer ring of buildings is a set of dormitories that can house several thousand people to allow for growth and for those visiting the university. In the city proper there are two main districts for housing and organizations as well as four markets, two in the south for general and common goods and services and two in the north for exotic, exclusive and high end goods and services.
